While we've seen a couple of Realme flagship phones before, the brand's strength is in mid-range phones, as those are the ones that usually sell the best and are overall more popular. The recently launched Realme 8 series is a good example of this. But that doesn't mean Realme doesn't like releasing a phone with flagship specifications and higher pricing every once in a while. The Realme X2 Pro came as Realme's strongest offering in 2019 in terms of specifications. Now, Realme might be planning to release yet another phone in the Realme X series, and it could see the light as the Realme X7 Max.

At the India Mobile Congress 2020 event late last year, MediaTek announced that it was working with OEMs to bring Dimensity 800U and Dimensity 1000 Plus-powered devices to India in early 2021. But so far, OPPO is the only manufacturer to have launched a MediaTek Dimensity-powered device in the country. However, that changes today, as Realme has now officially announced the Realme X7 series in India. Realme's new lineup consists of two devices — the Realme X7, featuring MediaTek's Dimensity 800U chip, and the Realme X7 Pro, which packs the flagship Dimensity 1000 Plus chip. Here's everything you need to know about the two devices:

Google Play Services for AR (formerly Google ARCore) is a software service that enables applications to create augmented reality experiences on devices without any dedicated AR hardware. While the service uses a device's existing cameras and sensors for the AR experience, Google has to work with OEMs to create custom calibration profiles for each device. This ensures that AR features work properly on the device, and users don't face any issues. As OEMs release several new devices each month, Google keeps updating the list of supported devices ever so often. Since our previous coverage last month, 15 new devices have made it to the list.

There is a direct correlation between the developer-friendliness of a particular Android OEM and their stance on publishing the kernel source code for the smartphones they sell. The companies are obliged to provide the source code – upon request – for any Linux kernel binaries that ship on their devices to comply with the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2. A handful of manufacturers are known for releasing such sources in a timely manner. Xiaomi is one of the most notable names in this field, and the OEM has now refreshed its official GitHub repository with the kernel source code corresponding to a bunch of popular phones. Moreover, sources for the recently released Motorola Moto G9/G9 Play as well as several Realme phones are now available for download.
