If you consider yourself a true flashaholic, then the name "Resurrection Remix" should ring a bell. The custom ROM is known for its style and customizability, while its foundation is based on bits and pieces from LineageOS, Pixel Experience, and OmniROM. The developers started rebasing the project on top of Android 10 a few months ago, and they are now confident enough to remove the beta tag. The Resurrection Remix team has recently announced its first set of stable builds based on Android 10 for a bunch of devices, including several Xiaomi smartphones and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, Samsung, and other OEMs.

The Asus ZenFone 5Z was launched at MWC 2018 as Asus's flagship product for 2018. Featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, the ZenFone 5Z went on to compete against the likes of the OnePlus 6 as a value flagship. For a starting price of ₹29,999 (~$435) in India, the ZenFone 6 provided an excellent alternative to those who did not wished to opt for the more expensive OnePlus flagship. The device went on to receive its Android Pie update in Jan 2019, bringing it up to par with other flagships that were launched in 2018.

Huawei and their subsidiary Honor ship their smartphones and tablets with their EMUI software. It's a heavily modified version of the stock Android framework that offers a lot of features not found in AOSP. Some people prefer all of the added features while the stock Android purists would much rather have stock Android running on top of Huawei/Honor hardware. If that describes you, then you may want to check out the work done by the OpenKirin team. They recently released unofficial LineageOS, CarbonROM, and Resurrection Remix builds for all EMUI 8 devices.

OnePlus 6 LineageOS
Hands-on with unofficial LineageOS 15.1 GSI for the OnePlus 6

People are figuring out how to boot a Generic System Image of unofficial LineageOS 15.1 for the OnePlus 6. We've installed it to see how well it runs.

Before Project Treble, it sometimes took several weeks or months after a new smartphone came out for a stable, functional custom ROM to be developed for that phone. With Project Treble, ideally, it should be possible to flash a generic system image (GSI) to a Treble-enabled device on the day of its launch and have it be mostly functional. While we don't expect it to take a lot of time for custom AOSP-based ROMs to arrive on the newly released OnePlus 6, we wanted to see how well a LineageOS Generic System Image (GSI) would run on OnePlus' first device with Treble support.

Project Treble is pretty great and allows for a Generic System Image (GSI) to boot on supported devices While previously only devices from the likes of Huawei and Essential were supported, as more and more devices launch with Android Oreo they too will have to support it. Xiaomi, a company whose devices have seen huge success in the developer community, updated the Redmi Note 5 Pro to Android 8.1 Oreo, complete with Project Treble support. There's a huge amount of interest in developing GSIs as more and more devices are updated to support them. Thanks to XDA Recognised Developer phhusson, there are now generic LineageOS 15.1 and Resurrection Remix ROMs available for all supported devices.

The Galaxy S3 was a massive success for Samsung and even today it remains their most popular phone, and one of the most popular Android phones of all time as well. At the time of its release, it packed more muscle than the usual smartphone, and with the Exynos (GT-I9300) version being one of the first quad-core mobile chipset carriers out there, it began the trend of the "quad-core or nothing" buying habit many users have today when reading spec sheets.
