Samsung has been quite generous with rolling out its One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11. Aside from last year’s flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Note 20 getting the update, older mid-rangers such as the Galaxy A50/A50s, Galaxy A70, and even some Galaxy M series devices have already received the latest software release. Several other Samsung Galaxy smartphones will be receiving a taste of Android 11 later this year, but the Exynos 7885-powered Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, and the Galaxy A8 Plus will be left out. So if you own either of the three devices from 2018 and want to experience Android 11 with Samsung’s latest One UI skin, your wish has been granted – albeit unofficially.

The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) was one of the first releases from Samsung last year. The phone came in with a 6" FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, Exynos 7885 SoC, 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. At the time of its launch, the phone came with Samsung Experience UI on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Halfway through the year, the Galaxy A8+ 2018 was updated to Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.5. Despite a string of new releases after that, Samsung has not forgotten the A8+ 2018, as the device is now receiving its Android Pie update with Samsung's One UI on top.

Having access to a custom recovery is one of the most important projects for every custom ROM community. Without it, flashing a custom ROM, a mod, or even rooting your device with Magisk would be very risky without an easy way to make backups. Over the last few years, TWRP has been the biggest project that found its way to numerous devices both officially and unofficially. We have exciting news for all owners of two Samsung Galaxy phones from early 2018: the Samsung Galaxy A8 and Samsung Galaxy A8+. Thanks to the efforts of XDA Senior Member BlackMesa123, TWRP for those devices is now officially available. Official TWRP access means the recovery is considered stable and official builds will be accessible from the website and Play Store app. From the changelog, we learn that File-Based Encryption is working on AOSP ROMs alongside with USB-OTG.
