TWRP now supports the Samsung Galaxy M30, Galaxy A40, Huawei P20 Lite, Moto G5S Plus, but drops POCO F1 support
TWRP drops support for the POCO F1, but added the Samsung Galaxy M30, Galaxy A40, Huawei P20 Lite, and the Moto G5S Plus in its roster.
The Team Win Recovery Project, AKA TWRP, needs no introduction to the Android modding community. Over the last few years, TWRP has become the de-facto standard for custom recovery in the Android ecosystem. One of the reasons why TWRP is so popular compared to other custom recovery solutions is the massive number of Android devices the project supports, with new devices being added to the official roster on a regular basis. Since our last coverage, the developer team has officially added support for the Samsung Galaxy M30, Galaxy A40, Huawei P20 Lite, and the Moto G5S Plus.
Android 10 rolling out to Samsung Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 in India
Samsung has now started rolling out One UI 2.0 based on Android 10 for its budget-friendly Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 in India.
Back in October, Samsung officially announced the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta program for its flagship Galaxy S10 series. Since then, the company has extended the beta program to a number of devices in the Galaxy S and Note lineup, and it has even started rolling out stable Android 10 updates for some of the devices. Interestingly, the One UI 2.0 rollout doesn't fall in line with the update schedule Samsung shared late last month. As per the schedule, devices in the Galaxy S and Note series, along with the Galaxy M20 and M30, were expected to receive the update early next year in January, while other budget and mid-range devices were scheduled to receive the update much later. It seems like Samsung has just completely disregarded the Android 10 update schedule it shared earlier because the company has now started rolling out Android 10 to the Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 in India.
The Samsung Galaxy M40 with Infinity-O display, triple rear cameras, 15W fast charging launched in India for ₹19,990 (~$290)
Extending its Galaxy M series, Samsung has announced the Galaxy M40 in India with an Infinity-O display, Snapdragon 675, triple cameras, and more.
Earlier this year, Samsung streamlined its objectives to tackle Xiaomi's price-effective offerings in India and launched the online-only Galaxy M series targetted at young users. Having sold 2 million units of the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and the Galaxy M30 collectively, Samsung appears to have succeeded to quite an extent. Last month, the company started teasing another new addition to this series – the Galaxy M40 – which has now been launched in India. The Galaxy M40 brings a hole punch display design to the sub-₹20,000 (~$290) segment and features a triple camera setup and 6GB RAM and with these aesthetics of a premium smartphone, invades the territory dominated by the likes of POCO F1.
[Update: Now available] Samsung is rolling out Android Pie update to Galaxy M10, M20, and M30 in India

The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+ all support Netflix HD and HDR videos
The Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10+ have all been certified by Netflix to support streaming videos in HD and HDR.
Digital Rights Management, or DRM, is a controversial topic among tech enthusiasts, with many arguing against its inclusion in PC video games. Regardless of your thoughts on the concept of DRM, there's little you can do to get around it on Android devices. Netflix on Android will only let you stream video content in HD or HDR if your device has Widevine L1 support, but even then, support isn't guaranteed as we've seen on the Xiaomi POCO F1. Netflix whitelists devices and chipsets for HD playback and they've just added a couple of new smartphones and Qualcomm chipsets to the list.

Samsung Galaxy M30 launched in India with triple cameras and Super AMOLED Infinity-U display
The Samsung Galaxy M30 has been officially launched in India. The phone is powered by the Exynos 7904 SoC, and features triple rear cameras.
If readers consider XDA's coverage of Samsung's budget and lower mid-range phones in 2018, a clear picture will emerge. Samsung's budget Galaxy J series, the online-only Galaxy On series (which were re-branded Galaxy J series phones), and the mid-range Galaxy A series all suffered from weak specifications and weak corresponding value propositions. Samsung's phones were consistently outclassed by the likes of Xiaomi, Asus, Honor, Realme, and others. After years of enjoying a dominant position at the top of the Indian smartphone market, Samsung found itself overtaken by Xiaomi in 2017, and the company has not been able to take back the pole position since. In this way, the new Galaxy M series represents a reboot of sorts for Samsung's budget and lower mid-range lineup, and the charge was led by the launch of the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 last month.
