The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is clearly a hit, with pre-order sales through the roof. However, that hasn't stopped it from facing its own set of controversies. The most recent of which surrounds the company's Game Optimization Service, which reportedly throttles approximately 10,000 applications. Samsung has since said that it will give users the choice to prioritize performance in an upcoming update, but it's too little, too late, as Geekbench has now delisted the last four years of Galaxy flagships from its benchmark browser.

The 4G variant of the Galaxy A51 has also received a similar bump on the Android security patch level (SPL) through its One UI 3.1 update. Such an early security patch release is possible because of the fact that Google notifies Android Partners about the Android framework and Linux kernel issues listed in a particular Android Security Bulletin (ASB) at least 30 days before the public release. Now, four more devices from the Korean OEM’s portfolio – the Galaxy A52, the Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy Tab S6 – have picked up new updates with the April 2021 patchset.

The Huawei Nova 4 was the first Android smartphone to bring the hole-punch camera concept to the masses. The Nova 4 is over two years old today, but the trend it started continues to rule the Android world even in 2021. The hole-punch design brings us closer to our collective goal of getting rid of bezels and achieving maximum real screen estate on a smartphone display. Although less intrusive than notch cutouts, hole-punch can still come across as an eyesore to some people.
