Over the last few days, Samsung has rolled out the One UI 4.1 update for several of its flagship models. But while the company’s smartphones are getting the latest iteration of One UI based on Android 12, most of its tablets are stuck on older versions of Android. Thankfully, the Korean OEM is finally getting around to releasing software updates for the tablet lineup. The Galaxy Tab S6, Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, and the Galaxy Tab S7 FE are the latest to receive the One UI 4.1 update based on Android 12.

Samsung has vastly improved its software update game in recent years, going from one of the worst OEMs for updates to one of the best. Over the past months, the company has consistently beaten most Android OEMs in delivering monthly security patches to its flagships phones. But that doesn’t mean the South Korean giant doesn't care about other, more affordable phones in its vast portfolio. Earlier this month, Samsung rolled out the December 2021 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, and a few other flagships. Now, it's expanding the update to more affordable models such as the Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A71, and Galaxy S20 FE.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was released last year as a competitor to Apple’s entry-level iPads, and even though it has been succeeded by the Tab S7 FE, the Tab S6 Lite is still a perfectly good tablet for light productivity and media streaming. The 128GB model has gone on sale a few times lately, but now the cheaper 64GB model is on sale for $269.99 at multiple retail stores. That's one of the better prices we've seen for the 64GB model lately — it has alternated between $280 and $350 on Amazon over the past month.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was released last year as a mid-range tablet, competing with Apple's entry-level iPads. Samsung has since replaced it with the Tab S7 FE, but the Tab S6 Lite is still a perfectly good tablet for light productivity and media streaming. The 128GB model has been slowly falling in price, and last month it dropped to $330. Samsung has now discounted the price yet again, this time to just $303.99. That's $126 below the original price, though recently the tablet has floated around $330-350.

Samsung rolls out April 2021 security patches to the Galaxy A52, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy Tab S6

The April 2021 Android security patch update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy Tab S6.

Samsung recently pushed out the April 2021 security patches to the Galaxy S21, Galazy Z Fold 2, and the Galaxy Note 10 in some regions. The 4G variant of the Galaxy A51 has also received a similar bump on the Android security patch level (SPL) through its One UI 3.1 update. Such an early security patch release is possible because of the fact that Google notifies Android Partners about the Android framework and Linux kernel issues listed in a particular Android Security Bulletin (ASB) at least 30 days before the public release. Now, four more devices from the Korean OEM’s portfolio – the Galaxy A52, the Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy Tab S6 – have picked up new updates with the April 2021 patchset.

Samsung has stepped up its update game in recent months, and as evidence of that, the One UI 3.1 update is rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 a few months ahead of schedule. One UI 3.1 brings a bunch of features over OneUI 3.0 to Samsung devices, along with new productivity features for tablets. Given that the Tab S6 skipped the One UI 3.0 update (just like the Galaxy Tab S7 did), this is an even bigger update for device owners than merely an upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1. The update comes in at roughly 2.2GB, packing the March 2021 security patches on top of Android 11, and in Germany, the build number of the Tab S6 LTE version is T865XXU4CUB7.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Review: The Best Tablet Android has to Offer?

While Android tablets seem stagnant compared to Apple's tablets, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S6 may just be the only good tablet that can compete with the iPad. Priced starting at ₹59,999 (~$847), the Galaxy Tab S6 offers top-of-the-line specifications that compete directly with the iPad Pro. With the optional keyboard folio case, the Tab S6 aims to be the laptop replacement that some of you are looking for. However, many tablets before the Tab S6 have tried this strategy with little success. So, is the Galaxy Tab S6 any different? We'll take a look at this question in our review of the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S6.

Samsung sells its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series in different processor configurations depending on the region. The US, China, and Hong Kong versions of the company's flagships get Snapdragon SoCs, while the rest of the world gets Exynos chips. This year, the US/China/Hong Kong variants of the Samsung Galaxy S10 phones featured the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, while the rest of the world got the Exynos 9820 variant. It was the same story with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, with the Snapdragon 855 being restricted to the aforementioned three regions, and the rest of the world getting the international Exynos 9825 variant. While the international Exynos variants have unlockable bootloaders, the bootloaders of the US carrier Snapdragon variants are not unlockable. The story gets more complicated when it is known that there are some variants (the Hong Kong variant, for example) of the Snapdragon Galaxy S10/Galaxy Note 10 phones that do have unlockable bootloaders that allow for rooting, flashing TWRP, and more.
