POCO, the mobile phone manufacturer that started as a subsidiary of Xiaomi, will be the first company to bring the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor to handsets outside of China. As confirmed in a tweet from Snapdragon India, the POCO F5 should have “50% higher overall performance” compared to the previous Snapdragon 7+ generation. It’s not the most powerful chip on a mobile phone, but it represents longevity and robustness in a market where upgrading a handset every year is often impractical.

Qualcomm's biggest release of the year is always its flagship chipsets, but arguably the most important release is its range of mid-range chips. Most people aren't buying flagship phones, but they want a device that will still last a number of years and be reasonably powerful for most of what they want to do. That's why the Snapdragon 7 series exists, and the company has just announced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.

And earlier this month, the company launched the new Snapdragon 732G, which brings improvements over the Snapdragon 730G. Today, Qualcomm is announcing the new Snapdragon 750G as an interesting addition alongside these two new SoCs, providing OEMs and consumers with more options in the premium mid-end segment.

At the Snapdragon Tech Summit in December last year, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G chipsets, alongside its flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC. The premium mid-range chips were manufactured on a 7nm EUV process from Samsung and were the first SoCs from the company to feature an integrated 5G modem (the Snapdragon X52). Much like the Snapdragon 730G from last year, the Snapdragon 765G was a gaming variant of the Snapdragon 765, featuring a slightly overclocked "prime" CPU code (@2.4GHz vs. 2.3GHz), a marginally overclocked GPU (15% speed binned Adreno 620), and support for some of the company's Snapdragon Elite gaming features. Now, in a bid to offer even better performance in the mid-range segment, Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 768G chipset.
