LineageOS 17.1 now available for the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, Nubia Z17, and LeEco Le Pro3
The LineageOS team has now extended LineageOS 17.1 support to the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, ZTE Nubia Z17, and the LeEco Le Pro 3.
Earlier this month, the team behind the popular LineageOS custom ROM officially rolled out LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10. The update introduced several new features to the ROM family, including a new partial screenshot UI that lets you select smaller parts of your screen to capture and edit, a new ThemePicker app from AOSP, the latest Android security patches, support for on-screen fingerprint sensor, support for pop-up and rotating cameras, and much more. As with previous iterations of the custom ROM, LineageOS 17.1 was initially made available for a handful of popular devices, a list of which can be found in our original announcement post. Since then, the team has added a couple of more devices to the list, including the original Google Pixel, the Pixel XL, and the Nexus 6. Now, the custom ROM is also available for the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, Nubia Z17, and the LeEco Le Pro3.

When a brand new major version of Android gets released (like Android 9 Pie) it has people wondering when (and sometimes if) their current smartphone will receive the update. This week some headlines spoke about 6 of Sony's smartphones being guaranteed to receive the update to Android Pie. But as we pointed out, the company had not confirmed which Xperia devices were scheduled to be updated. However, in a new blog post published today, the folks over at Sony Mobile have announced which Sony Xperia devices are currently planned to receive the new version of Android.

When it comes to developer friendly OEMs, Sony is generally somewhere towards the top of the list. While they have been known to do things such as wipe DRM keys when the bootloader is unlocked, they have had multiple developer programs over the years. From giving devices back to the community for their hard work to releasing easy step by step instructions to unlocking your Xperia phone, the company definitely ranks high up in terms of custom development. They're not deviating from that path just yet either, as the company has posted a guide for building AOSP Android 9 Pie on Xperia devices.
