For a few years now, T-Mobile has offered its budget smartphones through its own REVVL line providing customers with affordable, stylish, and feature-packed devices. This year, the firm is introducing three new products to its REVVL lineup, the REVVL Tab 5G, REVVL 6x Pro 5G, and REVVL 6x 5G. While the company has debuted REVVL smartphones in the past, what makes this release special is that for the first time, the company is also introducing a tablet. All three devices will be available from T-Mobile starting on August 24.

There haven't been many smartphone launches in the last few weeks that really stood out. Qualcomm recently announced a new phone called the "Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders" (yup, that’s the actual name), and we also saw Motorola release two derivative phones in the Motorola Defy 2021 and Moto G Stylus 5G. The one handheld device that really grabbed our attention recently is Valve's Steam Deck, a portable, Switch-like gaming PC.

One of the cheapest 5G smartphones to hit the United States will arrive on the 23rd of July, and it's the new T-Mobile REVVL V+ 5G. This device costs just $199 and has a massive 6.82-inch HD+ display and 5G support with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip. This puts it right up against the OnePlus Nord N200, which interestingly, the carrier offers for free with a trade-in of literally any functional mobile device (flip phones included) as part of its "5G for all" offer.

The TCL 10L and 10 Pro are great mid-range smartphones if you live in the U.S. because they're available at affordable prices while delivering decent hardware and software experiences. Both phones are currently available directly from TCL in the but the TCL 10L may soon launch on T-Mobile under the REVVL branding. In addition, the upcoming TCL 10 5G may also launch on T-Mobile as a new REVVL device.

REVVLRY
T-Mobile's REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ are a rebranded Moto G7 Play and Moto G7 Plus with added bloatware

REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ were launched on July 19th. They share the exact same specs as the Moto G7 Play and G7 Plus, but T-Mobile doesn't mention Motorola.

Carrier-exclusive phones tend to not be very popular in the Android enthusiast community. They can sometimes remove core features of Android in favor of their own heavily branded options. Another negative is it's often complicated or impossible to unlock the bootloader on carrier-exclusive phones. That means no root, no custom ROMs or kernels, and no mods, which makes the bloatware harder to remove. Now, T-Mobile is going the extra mile with new REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ phones, which are just rebranded Moto G7 Play and Moto G7 Plus, respectively.

T-Mobile REVVL 2 Plus
TCL's Alcatel 7 could launch on T-Mobile as the REVVL 2 Plus

The TCL Alcatel 7 which launched earlier this year on MetroPCS may be re-branded as the REVVL 2 Plus if it launches on T-Mobile.

Unlike in India and China where there's a wide selection of decent, low price Android smartphones, the budget phones sold in the United States are pretty awful. HMD Global is finally bringing a mid-range device that's worth talking about over to the U.S. in the Nokia 7.1, but Americans will still have to wait before there's a decent budget smartphone offering. Will the T-Mobile REVVL 2 Plus be a decent budget smartphone? Probably not, given that it's likely a re-branded Alcatel 7 that launched on MetroPCS earlier this year. But hey, if you're looking for a cheap device that works on T-Mobile, you might be interested in picking one of these up.
