Android as an OS has matured a lot over the years. Back in the early days, custom ROMs were massively popular as they fixed a lot of what users considered broken on the stock Android OS or the OEM's UX skin. But now, people find fewer reasons to jump ship away from the OS that their device ships with. But that doesn't mean that the stock Android OS is perfect, as there can still be smaller quirks and oddities that impact your experience. If you don't want to entirely change the OS on your phone but still want to change a few things around, Cometin is an app that contains a small collection of Android tweaks that could potentially improve your smartphone experience.

Theming your Android device is one of the primary reasons why people still root their devices, though recently several rootless theme solutions have cropped up. OEMs have started to implement Sony's RRO implementation, and Google officially incorporated RRO's successor, called OMS, into the source code for Android Oreo. Samsung's smartphones have a theme manager powered by RRO that can be hooked into in order to use custom themes, and that is exactly what the Substratum theme engine with its Sungstratum plugin does. A new theme for the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ allows you to tweak the always on display, status bar, and nav bar.

If you are here it is because you probably have a liking for Android, perhaps a little more than the average smartphone user. And while Android is a great platform, and offers infinite possibilities for users and developers to do just about anything, sometimes what we want to do is conditioned by Android itself. Because the OS is certainly not perfect, and sometimes the deliberate design decisions or the obnoxious little bugs or glitches can ruin part of the amazing experience that our phones and tablets otherwise provide us.
