While Google's latest Pixel devices are typically the first to launch with the latest flavor of Android, Chinese OEM Vivo beat Google to the punch last year with its Vivo V20. The device was the first new smartphone to launch with Android 11 out of the box, beating the new Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G by just a few hours. Since then, Vivo has launched a few other devices running the latest flavor of Funtouch OS based on Android 11, but the company is yet to release the update to older devices.

Vivo S1 was launched in India in August 2019 as part of the company's new series of "S"tylish smartphones. It came with a triple rear camera setup at a time when smartphone brands were at the early stages of experimenting with more than two rear cameras on mid-range smartphones. Along with snazzy colors, the Vivo S1 came with a Super AMOLED display, fast 18W charging, and up to 128GB storage. But despite these features and a pretty hefty price-tag, Vivo compromised in a few areas. The Vivo S1 was limited to a 16MP camera and had a micro-USB port. To rectify these shortcomings, the company has now launched its successor – the Vivo S1Pro – with 48MP quad cameras and other new features.
