Windows 10 Mobile formally reached the end of its life back in January 2020, after having close to no presence in the smartphone space for years, barely even making a dent among the best smartphones. But the few fans it had are still holding on to the dream of a Windows OS that can run on any device, which was the original goal with Windows 10. This time, a YouTube channel called Nobel Tech decided to do something extra crazy: port Windows 10 Mobile to a MacBook.

It's practically ancient history at this point, but the XDA-Developers was originally a Windows Mobile-focused website. Even the name "XDA" comes from the O2 Xda, a Windows Mobile PDA. That's why from time to time we like to cover news from the other realm. The tile-based operating system never really made it to the mainstream. The lack of applications, even from companies like Facebook, made using their devices a pain. For better or worse, Microsoft has acknowledged their defeat in the mobile OS war a long time ago. They've been releasing Microsoft applications for both Android and iOS for the past couple of years, and have shifted all their mobile attention towards promoting their services. It's been more than a year since the company announced the end of life for Windows Phone 8.1. Now, they're letting us know that Windows 10 Mobile will soon follow its predecessor.

If you still own a Windows Phone device and are in any way involved with the modding community, you've probably heard of the Windows Phone Internals tool. One of the best things about the tool is that it can disable SecureBoot on all Lumia Windows Phones, the equivalent of unlocking the bootloader on your typical Android smartphone. For other phones, such as the HTC One M8, it used to be the case that you were out of luck. That's no longer the case, and there's now a way to unlock all Windows Phones, including all Qualcomm based devices.
