Apple today announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will be held from June 10-14, both online and in-person at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. The company will hold a WWDC 2024 keynote on the first day of the festivities, June 10, where it will reveal the next versions of Apple operating systems. That includes iOS 18, which is expected to gain artificial intelligence features as part of what has been described as an "ambitious and compelling" upgrade.

5 features we hoped Apple would introduce at WWDC23

Apple previewed some neat additions across its operating systems during WWDC23, but there are many we're still waiting for.

During WWDC23, Apple previewed iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10. And while these operating systems include some welcome additions and changes, many features we've been hoping for didn't make it through. After all, the Cupertino firm has been focusing its efforts on visionOS for its new Vision Pro headset, so the other operating system updates were lackluster for the most part. But WWDC24 is a new opportunity for the company to finally introduce some of our most highly-requested features.

WWDC23 was jampacked with announcements. While iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS Sonoma pack fewer additions than typical annual OS bumps, we actually got some exciting hardware reveals. So while the conference usually focuses on upcoming software releases, we got a surprisingly well-rounded keynote with plenty of announcements. I was disappointed by the lack of meaningful software news, but that doesn't mean there wasn't stuff to be excited about.

The company is expected to make several big announcements at the event, including the unveiling of its much-awaited AR/VR headset. The real reason I'm not excited about WWDC this year

Here's hoping the biggest WWDC brings a few surprises.

We're only a few hours away from the inaugural keynote of Apple's annual developer's conference, called WWDC. The company uses the show to share updates on the next versions of its operating systems and turns the spotlights to some key hardware announcements. Last year's keynote, for instance, was packed with a ton of announcements, and I expect nothing less from what is touted to be Apple's "biggest and most exciting" WWDC yet.

Apple doesn't always arrive late to the party.

It's no secret that Apple tends to copy Android features years after Google debuts them. After all, the great iPhone maker tends to play it safe by not shocking its users. Consequently, it typically introduces new changes gradually, and it often takes its sweet time before deploying new technology. Despite that, there have been some instances where Apple beat Google at offering innovative additions. There were three specific ones where the company announced them in a big way: at WWDC, the company's big annual developer's conference.

WWDC23 is right around the corner, and our excitement continues to build. This time around, we're expecting Apple to reveal iOS 17, macOS 14, and a major watchOS 10 update. More importantly, though, we're anticipating the rumored mixed-reality headset, which could reshape the company's legacy going forward.

Through a press release on its Newsroom website, Apple has announced that WWDC23 will be taking place on the week of June 5. During the Worldwide Developers Conference, the iPhone maker is expected to reveal iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10. Additionally, registered developers should be able to get their hands on the first betas right after the main keynote concludes. Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations states:

The Apple Store is down, which could mean new hardware later today!

The Apple Store has gone down hours before WWDC 2022. This makes us believe that the company will be revealing new hardware during the event.

We're used to seeing the online Apple Store going offline a few hours before a certain hardware-focused event. This is usually to prepare for the new iPhones, iPads, or Macs the company is adding to its digital store. However, Apple typically keeps its store online during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). That's because it doesn't usually launch new devices during this event. Surprise, surprise -- the Apple Store is currently down for the first time in years during a WWDC. This could verify the rumors pointing at new hardware launches later today.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022 goes live in just a few hours! We're super excited, and -- since you're reading this -- we assume that you are too! There's A LOT to look forward to, particularly this year. We've heard many rumors regarding Apple's upcoming set of software updates. And based on these whispers, it sounds like WWDC22 is going to blow us away. Whether you're anticipating iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, or all of them -- you must be wondering how and when you can watch this software-focused event. Obviously, just like previous years, the event will be free to watch for all. You can stream it live as it happens, and you can access it later on through the on-demand public record.

Here's why I'm super excited for this year's WWDC

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is upon us! Here's why I'm very hyped to attend this annual, virtual event.

By

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is upon us, and words hardly express how hyped I am. For those unfamiliar with WWDC, it's an annual, software-focused event by Apple. The Cupertino tech giant used to invite developers and press members to attend it in person. However, the company switched to the virtual format during the pandemic. For general WWDC fans around the world, the shift hasn't made much of a difference -- since they've been watching it online anyway. Developers and the press no longer get to socialize and connect in person, though, until this pandemic passes. The switch to an online-only event has also given Apple the opportunity to develop movie-like keynotes with special effects. These productions contribute to the dramatic effect and ensure no hiccups occur during the presentations. We're expecting iOS 16, macOS 13, and more OS betas during WWDC22. However, my excitement isn't just because of that.

macOS 13
MacBook Air and macOS design changes could be revealed during WWDC

By

The hype for WWDC is building up, and these last-minute rumors are only draining us from what little patience we have left. We already know that Apple will most likely be revealing iOS 16 and macOS 13. However, what these major operating system updates include remains unclear for now. We've heard whispers about iOS 16 introducing some notable changes to the iPhone. These could include lock screen widget support, always-on display, and a notification system overhaul. Obviously, though, these reports could end up being inaccurate. There's a high possibility they're true, but nothing is guaranteed until Apple makes the official announcements. In the Mac department, there could be some exciting reveals to look forward to. The Cupertino tech giant could possibly reveal the colorful MacBook Air -- powered by the M2 chip -- in addition to design changes in macOS 13 during WWDC 2022.
