Xiaomi's Mi 10i is the latest addition to the company's portfolio in India. Despite its endorsement as a product made especially for India, the Mi 10i mirrors Xiaomi's Mi 10T Lite in terms of the design and specifications — save for the new 108MP camera — and also resembles Xiaomi's Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. If you can overlook that, the Xiaomi Mi 10i is among the most economical 5G phones that you can buy in India as the country prepares for the era of 5G.

Google's Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) program certifies Android devices for enterprise deployment. Since its launch back in 2018, Google has certified over 150 devices from a variety of manufacturers, including Motorola, LG, OnePlus, OPPO, and more. These devices have to fulfill certain criteria to land a spot on the list, like a minimum hardware specification, support for bulk deployment with zero-touch enrollment, regular Android security updates within 90 days of release from Google for a period of 3 years, and more. Late last year, Samsung's Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy Tab S7 received AER certification following their Android 11 updates. Now, the company's latest flagship Galaxy S21 series has also secured a spot on the list of AER certified devices.

Xiaomi along with its spin-off brands Redmi and POCO have flooded the smartphone market with an enormous number of phones in each price range and category. Xiaomi's position about the independent status of these brands varies with markets globally but they often end up sharing similar SKUs that are available with minor tweaks and different branding. Today, Xiaomi announces the Mi 10i 5G in India, wherein the "i" stands for India. Although the company claims it is a phone made for the Indian market, it shares the same design and almost the same specifications as the Mi 10T Lite and the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G (China). The Xiaomi Mi 10i comes with a 108MP camera, 5G support, a 120Hz display, and more.

Sometimes it takes Xiaomi a long time to release the kernel source code for a device they sell, but other times it can come rather hastily. While the Chinese OEM's timeliness factor remains questionable, a kernel source release still excites the aftermarket development community, whenever it does land. And we are happy to report that a handful of new devices have had their kernel sources released, namely the Redmi 9, the Redmi 9 Power (sold as the Redmi Note 9 4G in China), and the Mi 10T Lite AKA the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G.
