If you consider yourself a true flashaholic, then the name "Resurrection Remix" should ring a bell. The custom ROM is known for its style and customizability, while its foundation is based on bits and pieces from LineageOS, Pixel Experience, and OmniROM. The developers started rebasing the project on top of Android 10 a few months ago, and they are now confident enough to remove the beta tag. The Resurrection Remix team has recently announced its first set of stable builds based on Android 10 for a bunch of devices, including several Xiaomi smartphones and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, Samsung, and other OEMs.

Qualcomm debuted their 700-tier chipset series with the release of the Snapdragon 710 SoC back in 2018, and Xiaomi was the first smartphone maker to adopt it with the Mi 8 SE. Later on, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 712 SoC with a little performance boost over the Snapdragon 710, and Xiaomi once again was first in line to utilize the then-new chipset on the Mi 9 SE. As the two platforms are software compatible, Xiaomi unified the kernel source code for the Mi 8 SE and Mi 9 SE. Now, Xiaomi has updated its kernel source code repository with the updated kernel sources corresponding to the Mi 8 SE and Mi 9 SE's Android 10 update. Furthermore, Xiaomi has also merged the Mi 9 Lite's sources with the same kernel source code tree.

MIUI 11 is the newest big release for Xiaomi smartphones, perhaps even bigger than an Android version jump. Features on Xiaomi devices are dictated more by their MIUI versions than the underlying Android version, so an MIUI version upgrade is an exciting event. MIUI 11 was announced in China in September 2019, bringing along new features such as animated AOD and Horizon Light for supported devices, new font, dynamic sound system, Mi Work and Mi Go app suites, and more changes. The first batch of MIUI 11 Betas was available for a bunch of devices, and over the next few weeks, devices like the Redmi K20 have begun receiving their stable MIUI 11 updates. Now, Xiaomi has officially confirmed that stable MIUI 11 update is rolling out to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Poco F1.

Last year was a great year for smartphones. ASUS caught our attention with the ROG Phone II, a smartphone made to cater towards gamers with its powerhouse specifications (Snapdragon 855 Plus, up to 12 GB of RAM, up to a whopping 1 TB of internal storage, a behemoth 6,000 mAh battery, and a buttery smooth 120Hz AMOLED display). Realme and Xiaomi, on the other hand, fiercely competed against each other in the mid-range segment with devices such as the Realme X2 and the Xiaomi Mi CC9/Mi 9 Lite, each providing decent bang for your buck when it comes to performance and camera.

Xiaomi has been busy rolling out Android 10 to a range of Redmi and Mi lineup of smartphones, starting from the Redmi K20 Pro which received the update on the very first day Google released Android 10 to the more recent Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K20, Mi 8, Mi MIX 3, and Mi 9 SE which received Android 10 just yesterday. The long list of devices means there are still many smartphones waiting for their turn to taste the sweet Android treat. One such Xiaomi device which has yet to receive official Android 10 is the Mi 9 Lite (aka Mi CC9 in China), launching first in China in July last year and subsequently arriving in the European markets a few months later. The device did receive the stable MIUI‌ 11 update around November but it was still based on Android 9 Pie — as opposed to Android 10 that many were hoping for.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi unveiled a new line of smartphones centered around their cameras: the CC9e, CC9, and CC9 Meitu Edition. The former was rebranded internationally as the Xiaomi Mi A3 while the latter two have yet to leave China. People are hoping that the CC9 or CC9 Meitu Edition will be rebranded as a "Pro" model of the Mi A3, but there's so far no evidence of that happening. In any case, Xiaomi has released the kernel source code for the CC9 and Meitu Edition, so developers can start working on porting TWRP, building custom kernels, and properly porting AOSP.
