YouTube has confirmed that creators with a compatible encoder can now live stream content in HDR three years after it was enabled for uploads.
YouTube has announced that creators can now live stream their content in HDR. Although Google began rolling out HDR support for recorded videos (very, very slowly) back in 2017, this is the first time that live streams have been able to show off those vivid blacks and increased color gamut.
OnePlus 8, LG V60, and Motorola Edge are listed as YouTube Signature Devices
The OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, LG V60 ThinQ, Motorola Edge, and Motorola Edge+ are the latest to join the league of YouTube Signature Devices.
YouTube Signature Devices is a list of smartphones that meet a set of standards that Google thinks allows the phones to deliver the best YouTube experience. We first learned about this program back in 2018 alongside the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. At the time there were only 18 devices on the list. Since then, the list of YouTube Signature Devices has only grown in size, with new devices being added to the list from time to time. Now, five more phones have joined this elite club: the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, LG V60 ThinQ, Motorola Edge, and Motorola Edge+.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro has been certified as a YouTube Signature Device, making it the first device from OPPO to receive the certification. Read on for more!
YouTube recently launched a new Device Report website, where phones that can provide best-in-class YouTube experiences are listed down. These phones are listed after "rigorous testing", and the team at YouTube also works with the manufacturers to improve video playback performance. Considering how integral YouTube has become to the smartphone experience of the average user, all of this effort makes a lot of sense. Smartphones from Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Google, Nokia, LG, HTC and more were listed at launch, and more Huawei and Honor devices were added down the road. Now, OPPO makes it to the list of YouTube Signature Devices with the OPPO Find X2 Pro.

Google has released a statement saying they will be adding YouTube HDR support for "Pixel devices" thanks to a new software update.
Google is working to expand HDR support on YouTube and while it only actually works with special videos, the feature has become quite the buzzword these days. While hardware support isn't there on the Pixel or the Pixel XL, Google has said they're bringing YouTube HDR to these devices thanks to a software update.
