The Consumer Electronics Show 2020 is full of surprises for the technology industry. At the event, Chinese electronics brand TCL had a few surprises in terms of smartphones. Rather than announcing yet another Alcatel-branded device, the company announced its first self-branded smartphones, one of which also happens to be the first 5G-capable phone from the company.

TCL's new 10-Series smartphone lineup includes three new devices: the TCL 10 5G, TCL 10L, and TCL 10 Pro. Most of the specifications of these devices are unknown to us for now, though we'll get a better look at the devices and their specifications when the company officially launches them at MWC next month. For now, though, what we can say is that the TCL 10 5G is arguably one of the most interesting devices of CES 2020. It offers sub-6GHz 5G connectivity thanks to an unnamed Snapdragon 7 series chipset, which in all likelihood is the Snapdragon 765 and its integrated Snapdragon X52 modem. Better yet is the fact that this device TCL 10 5G will sold for under $500, drastically undercutting other 5G smartphones in the market. The official render of the 10 5G shows a nearly bezel-less screen on the front and a quad-camera module above a physical fingerprint scanner on the rear. According to the TCL USA website, the primary camera is a 64MP sensor.

TCL also emphasizes the device's screen, with "Display Greatness" marketing. Though it's unknown what's so special about these displays just yet. We don't know much about the other two devices, either. We expect similar specifications for the TCL 10L and TCL 10 Pro, but with slight variations in camera sensors. As mentioned, further details about TCL's 10-Series smartphones will be made available during Mobile World Congress next month. Stay tuned for more details and information about these devices.
