Tile Ultra will bring UWB tracking to both Android and iOS

Tile is taking on Samsung and Apple with its latest tracking tag — the Tile Ultra. Tile claims that it’s the first tracking tag to offer UWB support on both Android and iOS, which should give it an edge over the competition. In case you weren’t aware, Samsung’s SmartTag+ doesn’t work with iOS devices and you can’t use Apple’s AirTags with an Android phone. This makes them a poor choice for those who use both Android and iOS products. Tile aims to address this with the new Tile Ultra.

The Tile Ultra will offer both Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband support on iOS and Android, enabling advanced features like Point and Locate finding. The feature will essentially work like the Precision Finding feature on AirTags, allowing you to use AR to find the tracker using the Tile companion app. Tile says that it’s working with Google to ensure an optimal tracking experience on Android 12 and UWB-supported devices.

“Google is committed to making Android phones, and all the devices connected to them, work even better together. With Android 12, users of phones with Ultra-Wideband technology will benefit from new and accurate positioning experiences. We’re excited about the work we’ve been doing with Tile and the new finding experience it will give users,” said Erik Kay, VP of Engineering at Google.

The Tile Ultra will go on sale early next year. Currently, Tile hasn’t shared exact pricing and availability details.

Tile has also refreshed its existing tracker lineup, with the new models featuring minor design and feature updates. The new Tile Pro now offers a 400ft tracking range, while the Mate, Slim, and Sticker tracking range has been bumped up to 250ft.

Tile Lost and Found User Experience

Tile has also improved the Mate’s non-replaceable battery, and it now lasts up to three years. All models now also have IP67 water resistance certification and a new Lost and Found feature. The new lineup will go on sale starting today via Tile’s website, Amazon, Costco, BestBuy, Target, and others. They’re priced as follows:

  • Tile Pro: $34.99 (Black and White)
  • Tile Mate: $24.99 (Black and White)
  • Tile Slim: $34.99 (Black only)
  • Tile Sticker: $29.99 (Black only)
