It's a little bit of a face palm moment when developers who've worked hard to fix problems with older devices see an application that brings those problems flying back at the click of a button.

Developers, prepare to face palm.

XDA Recognized Developer ftgg99 has created an application called Touch Blocker which, as the name implies, allows users to create dead spots on their touch devices wherever they want, whenever they want. However, unlike unintentional dead zones caused by bad sensors and software, these are intentionally placed dead spots placed to improve ergonomics. For users with devices with small bezels, such as the Motorola Xoom tablet, this is a more than welcome addition.

Not only is the app capable of creating dead spots on cue, but it also has a feature that will filter the screen for low light reading. Currently, the application is in the beta stage of its development, so there could be a few bugs. In the words of the developer:

We are already in a relatively stable Beta release - whats left now is adding new features and making it all look pretty. You can follow this process at the thread here.

Please be sure to write suggestions - we are looking forward to engaging the community and building a useful and nifty application that many will enjoy!

So, if you decide to try it, feel free to make some suggestions or report bugs to help the development process along.

Head on over to the original thread for a full feature list and discussion.
