Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 22000.527 to all users as an optional update, bringing with it new taskbar features and more fixes. The update, labeled as KB5010414, initially rolled out to Windows Insiders last Friday (though the minor build number was 526), and now everyone can try it. You can download it manually here. The update includes many of the new features Microsoft announced earlier today, including taskbar weather and new Teams integrations.

The return of taskbar weather is tied to the Widgets feature in Windows 11. In fact, the weather indicator will replace the Widgets button altogether, and you can click it to access the Widgets panel. You can also now hover your mouse over the button to peek at the Widgets panel, and it will be dismissed when you move your mouse away. The new Widgets button will show weather information via an icon and text on the bottom left corner of your screen, unless you've aligned your taskbar icons on the left. In that case, the button will stay in its current position, and it won't show any text - only the icon will change.

Microsoft Teams for work and school is also getting a couple of new features with Windows 11 build 22000.527. During meetings, you'll now see a "Share window" button when you mouse over an open app on the taskbar, so you can quickly share the contents of that window to your meeting. Additionally, there's a new microphone mute icon in the bottom right corner so you can mute/unmute yourself on a Teams call without opening the Teams window.

Another long-awaited return in this update is that of the taskbar clock, specifically if you use a multi-monitor setup. Windows 11 infamously only showed the clock on your main monitor, but now you'll be able to see it on all your screens again.

Microsoft hasn't posted an official full changelog yet, as is typical for the company, but it should be essentially the same as it was for Windows Insiders last week. That's because it's the exact same update. You can read it below if you haven't already:

As we mentioned at the top, this is an optional update, so it won't be installed automatically. If you want the new features, go to Settings -> Windows Update and check for updates. You should see an optional update labeled as KB5010414, and you can choose to install it manually. Once you do, you'll be running Windows 11 build 22000.527 and have all the latest features. Otherwise, you can wait for next month's Patch Tuesday to receive these improvements and more. That update will be mandatory, so it will install automatically.
