One of the things that has made Xiaomi popular in the Android community is their reputation with software updates. We consistently see MIUI updates roll out to devices week after week, and that includes devices up to 5-years old. However, software support doesn't last forever. The company has highlighted several devices that will no longer receive MIUI China updates.

According to a post on the MIUI China Forum, Xiaomi will no longer send out MIUI China ROM updates to the following devices.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro/Redmi Note 3
  • Xiaomi Mi 5
  • Xiaomi Mi 4
  • Xiaomi Mi 4C
  • Xiaomi Mi 4S

The last stable release for the Mi 5 and Note 3 Pro will be MIUI 10.2. The last stable release for the Mi 4, Mi 4S, and Mi 4C will be MIUI 10.1. MIUI China Beta updates have also been suspended. The last beta for the Mi 5 and Note 3 Pro will be 8.11.22, and 8.9.14 for the Mi 4, Mi 4S, and Mi 4C.

This isn't the first time Xiaomi has made this decision. Last year, they ended MIUI 9 support for six devices. Technology never stops evolving and eventually, all devices will get left by the wayside.
