Xiaomi fancies building its own version of core Android features and apps ground-up into MIUI in the pursuit of improving features over the ones in AOSP builds. We recently came across Xiaomi working on its own version of Android Pie's Digital Wellbeing, and now it may be incorporating the adaptation of Google Tasks within the MIUI Notes app.

Xiaomi is apparently testing an option to add Tasks in the Notes app in the Chinese MIUI 10 alpha ROM. The MIUI build number for this ROM is 9.7.8. With this addition, the Notes app appears to have two tabs on the top - one for Notes and the new one for Tasks. Under the latter tab, we see buttons at the bottom right corner for adding new tasks, including buttons for text as well as audio input. This screen shows the list of all the tasks along with a search bar if you like to juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time.

Besides adding text for the reminder, there is an option to set a reminder along with the added task. From what we see, the remainder notification can be dismissed by tapping on the "Okay" button but there's no option to snooze the reminder. Once you finish a task, you can check the box next to it and it will strike through the text. The feature also gets an option to hide the completed tasks.

Since the Tasks feature is currently in the MIUI alpha ROM in China, we hope that it moves to the beta ROMs in China. Since Xiaomi has apparently halted the beta testing for global units, we can expect it to be integrated within the stable ROMs for global users. This, however, will be based on the popularity of the feature among the Chinese testers.
