Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 9 5G, Redmi Note 9 4G, and Redmi Watch in China

Since Thanksgiving is not a thing in China, it's business as usual today as Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi announced three new devices and a smartwatch. The company took to the stage to announce the new Redmi Note 9 4G, Redmi Note 9 5G, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, and the Redmi Watch. But before you move ahead, keep in mind that these devices are not to be confused with the Redmi Note 9 that was launched globally earlier in the year.

Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G

The highest-end model of this new series is the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 750G, with a 6.67-inch, 120Hz LCD display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a main 108MP Samsung HM2 camera with a 1/1.52" sensor. Other cameras in the quad-camera array include an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. Around the front is a 16MP selfie camera.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G features several flourishes usually not seen in the lower mid-tier price range: IP53 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, NFC, and 33W wired fast charging for its 4,820 mAh battery. While the device looks modern enough, it does use a side-mounted fingerprint sensor due to the LCD panel not being able to accommodate an in-display sensor.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G comes in three colors -- black, blue, and this gradient orange-blue color -- and is priced at CNY 1599 ($243) for 6GB+128GB model, CNY 1799 ($273) for 8GB+128GB, and CNY 1999 ($304) for 8GB+256GB in China. Availability outside of the region is not known yet.

Redmi Note 9 5G

The non-Pro variant of the Redmi Note 9 runs on the Dimensity 800U SoC, with a larger 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.53-inch LCD display with 60Hz refresh rate. The triple camera system consists of a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The Redmi Note 9 5G starts at CNY 1299 ($197) for the 6GB+128GB model, CNY 1499 for the 8GB + 128GB, and CNY 1699 for the 8GB + 256GB variant.

Redmi Note 9 4G

Finally, there's the base model Redmi Note 9 4G which differs from the model released in India earlier this year. Unlike the other two devices in this series, this standard Redmi Note 9 4G doesn't support 5G. It's powered by a Snapdragon 662 SoC, but you do get a huge 6,000 mAh battery and stereo speakers. The Redmi Note 9 4G starts at CNY 999 ($151) for the 4GB+128GB model, CNY 1099 for the 6GB + 128GB, CNY 1299 for the 8GB + 128GB, and CNY 1499 for the 8GB + 256GB.

Redmi Watch

The Redmi Watch features a 1.4-inch display with 5ATM splash resistance rating and battery life that can last seven days on active use and 12 days standby time. It has the usual sensors for heart rate and step tracking, and supports Xiaomi's Xiao Ai digital assistant which is available only in China. It's priced at CNY 299 ($45).

The watch along with all the Redmi Note 9 devices will go on sale in China officially on December 1.
